Bakers Studio Vetkoek Premix is a professional-grade vetkoek / magwinya mix designed for light, fluffy, golden-brown vetkoek every time. Perfect for sweet or savoury fillings, this easy-to-use premix delivers consistent texture, excellent rise and superior frying performance. Ideal for home bakers, caterers and food businesses.

Ingredients (in kg)

  • Vetkoek Premix – 1.000 kg
  • Instant Dry Yeast – 0.012 kg (12g)
  • Lukewarm Water – 0.550 kg (550ml)

Method (Updated for Instant Yeast)

  1. Combine premix and instant dry yeast in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add lukewarm water (±35–40°C).
  3. Mix using a spiral mixer:
  4. Medium speed: ±3 minutes
  5. Fast speed: ±5 minutes
  6. Transfer dough to a lightly oiled container.
  7. Proof: 
    • ±60 minutes at room temperature
    • OR ±45 minutes in a proofer
  1. Portion into desired size.
  2. Fry in hot oil (170–180°C) until golden brown.
  3. Cool slightly, cut open and fill.
